KUDOS to Waves Car Wash
Waves Car Wash in West Roxbury, Mass., was honored recently for its green business practices, including the installation of 7,000 square feet of solar panels on the building’s roof, according to a report by West Roxbury Patch. Owner Adam Korngold said the solar panels should provide 50,000 kilowatts of energy and provide approximately 20 percent of the facility’s electrical needs.
The carwash hosted an energy fair last month to celebrate the installation of the 160 solar panels. The event featured free giveaways, community groups, entertainment and appearances by local politicians. Korngold received citations from Boston City Councilmember John Connolly and state representative Paul McMurtry. Both officials commended Korngold for his commitment to green initiatives and conservation practices, the article said. Waves Car Wash also recycles water used during the wash process.
During the fair, visitors could tour the facility to see how the carwash recycles its water. The carwash also provided free, reusable bags filled with car-related environmentally friendly items.
