NEW! This year's outing will be a "blast"
The Golf Ball Cannon will surely add excitement to our event and lots of photo ops. Powered by compressed air, the golf ball cannon can shoot a golf ball 325 yards with no recoil. Each golfer will have the opportunity to fire a golf ball on to the green of a par 4 hole. If all four players hit the green on their cannon shots, the team scores an automatic hole in one. Wow!
A signficant portion of the proceeds from the Outing will benefit NEADS and the NECA Scholarship Fund. Since 2003, NECA has donated $67,835.00 to various charities including Boston Childrens Hospital, Make-A-Wish, and the Providence Boys and Girls Club . Proceeds from the outing also has helped us award $10,000 in NECA scholarships since 2011, contributing to the success our own NECA members, their spouses and children.
NEADS (National Education for Assistance Dog Services, also known as Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 1976 and is based in Princeton, Massachusetts. How We're Funded: NEADS receives very limited federal government funding and relies on the support of individuals, foundations, corporations, service organizations, bequests and workplace campaigns.
Accredited by Assistance Dogs International, the internationally recognized governing body that establishes industry standards and practices, NEADS offers a wide spectrum of Assistance Dog services, including:
Our hearing dogs are specially trained to alert human partners to the source of a sound.
Our Canines for Combat Veterans program is designed to help the growing population of wounded veterans.
Our service dogs assist people by performing everyday tasks like picking up dropped items, opening doors, and more.
Our uniquely trained dogs engage and inspire a practitioner's community.
Service dogs for children perform many of the same tasks they can for adults, and offer our younger clients greater independence.
