Legislative and Regulatory Updates
NECA’s Legislative Monitoring Intern researches and provides timely information on regulations and potential legislation that may affect the car wash/vehicle wash industry so businesses and the Association can respond effectively. During the month of October, NECA’s Intern reported the following activity that may be of interest to the car wash industry.

MASSACHUSETTS
SB 2635: An Order relative to authorizing the Joint Committee on Revenue to Study Certain Documents. The Bill authorizes the Committee on Revenue to study a number of Senate documents with the goal of raising revenue by means of altering local property taxes. NEW HAMPSHIRE
REMINDER The comments period for Env-Wq 404 Underground Injection Control Requirements, reported in the prior News Brief, ends November 5th.

2011-H-0102-R: Establishing a local option homestead exemption against the statewide property tax for residents and independent local businesses including a renters agreement. The bill is being proposed by Susan G. Price.
2011-H-0157-R: Relative to the carry forward periods for the business enterprise tax credit against the business profits tax. Proposed by Frank V. Sapareto,
2011-H-0160-R: Relative to the standards and burden of proof for the business profits tax deduction for reasonable compensation attributable to owners of partnerships, limited liability companies and sole proprietorships. Also proposed by Frank V. Sapareto.
2011-H-0162-R: A bill increasing the threshold amounts for taxation under the business enterprise tax. Proposed by Frank V. Sapareto.
2011-H-0167: Relative to information for property tax assessment of commercial and industrial properties. Proposed by Liz H. Merry.
